I got my start in the swimming pool industry in 1963 at the age of nine holding the grade-stick for my father while digging new in-ground swimming pools. As I matured I graduated to a crew member in my Dad's company, Pool 'n Patio, based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. During my years at Pool 'n Patio the company built over 300 in-ground vinyl liner swimming pools. When Pool 'n Patio dissolved in 1974 I spent a couple of seasons working for one of Pool 'n Patio's ex-competitors as foreman of new construction. I built over 50 pools during those two seasons. After spending a couple of years as a rod-man on a survey crew I built another 50 in-ground swimming pools as an independent contractor. This supplemented my income while I was working full time at a large Wisconsin resort where I managed all mechanical and human phases of 6 full time swimming pools. Currently I am in the swimming pool business full time specializing in swimming pool service and new in-ground pool sales and construction.
